3 Ways to Spend More 1-on-1 Time with your Kids

Posted by on

It’s no secret that hectic schedules can make it difficult to connect with your kids. Sometimes, a good solid hang with your #famjam is all you need to lift your mood or de-stress after a long day! Not to mention, this quality time has amazing benefits for you and your “mini-mes”. When you spend time together, you’re inadvertently role-modeling, relieving stress and getting your daily dose of exercise. You’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice that your kids are learning good habits, building healthy bones and positive self worth!

Here are a few some simple ways to maximize quality time with your kids:

  1. (Family) Date Night. No - this isn’t time to spend one-on-one with your hubby. Instead, set a weekly time in the family calendar to spend time with your kiddos. Whether it be 10 minutes or 3 hours, think quality over quantity. You can set family dates or schedule individual dates nights if you have more than one child. This one-on-one time is important to foster relationship building with your little one(s)!
  2. More Chores + Quality Time = Less Work for Mom and Dad. Sound to good to be true? It may be! Get your kids to help out with chores around the house. Not only does this lighten your workload, but it’s a great way to teach your kids(s) life skills while enjoying eachothers’ company at the same time! By giving positive affirmation, they will feel helpful and may want to take on more responsibilities around the home (yay!)
  3. Evening walks > TV time. Ask your kids to get ready for bed, teeth brushed and all. Then off you go! You’ll be surprised by how calming an evening walk can be and there’s really nothing like a dose of fresh evening air to de-stress!

To all the busy Moms and Dads out there - there’s no need to feel guilty or stressed about the lack of quality time you’re spending with your little ones. Instead, make it about you!  Ask yourself how you can be a successful parent and focus on how you can include them in your daily routine. Even with busy schedules, you’ll be an expert at finding the time to connect, even if only for 10 minutes. Kids grow up so quickly, so be sure to be present and cherish all of those precious moments you have together! It’s true what they say… kids do grow up so fast ❤️
